About

VISION:  To inspire and empower business women through career development workshops and private sessions at the intersection of the ladies golf community.

Through intimidation-free (meaning, fun!) career clinics in golf environments, we’ll equip you to take your career to the next level while growing your comfort level on the course (or in the clubhouse).  We all know golf can be a powerful business tool, but many women still opt out of the chance to learn the game or join corporate golf events for various reasons.  If you don’t have an interest in golf, that’s ok. You’ll still enjoy beautiful settings with the opportunity to build rewarding relationships – in the office and on the course.

WE SERVE:  Businesses seeking career leadership and advancement programs for their teams, and ladies seeking a network to grow with.  Our events and career workshops deliver opportunities to both improve your golf game and play with your tribe.

You Belong ~ on the course & in the boardroom

Now that you have the short version above, here’s a little more of the backstory.  Do you know what you want to be when you grow up?  Are you living your dream at work?  If your answer is “not really“, you’re in good company.  To be clear, I don’t know if it’s always realistic to seek a “dream job”, per se, but I do believe we can find fulfillment, at the very least.

I enjoyed a successful 20-year career at a Fortune 500 company and a comfortable life as a result.  However, when I would think about where I wanted to be in the next 5-10 years, I didn’t know.  At some point along the way I realized I was energized by helping others figure out what they wanted in their careers.  Serving as a mentor, helping others understand their strengths and blind spots, and mapping out a plan to achieve their goals gave me a strong sense of purpose.  While people wanted career advice, often times they weren’t sure what to ask, or where to focus, they just knew they wanted something different.  I’ll never forget the day someone I was mentoring handed me a pad of paper and a pen and asked if I would write out the steps I took to get to the position I was in.  The truth was, I had no idea.  If only I had a proven roadmap that would lead them to them their dream job, we’d all be in different situations.  I knew there were steps I took that lead me to success, and I knew of the things I did (or didn’t do) that threw me off course, so I took some time to map out the patterns and strategies I thought could serve people well, particularly for women in a male-dominated career.  Now, my passion lies in helping others build their plan for success.

“I didn’t get there by wishing for it or hoping for it, but by working for it”  – Estée Lauder

It’s said that a goal without a plan is merely a wish.  While I didn’t follow a traditional career plan, there were so many times I wished I had a “tried-and-true” path to follow.  I did find ways to get comfortable with intuition and walk through doors when they would open.  There were days when I felt as though I accidentally ended up where I was (enter imposter syndrome), but the truth is that it took a lot of intentional action, consistency and determination.  I started to allow myself to envision what I wanted for my future.  Those dreams became goals, goals lead me to commit to specific actions, which ultimately lead to success and fulfillment.

I guess you could say I am a self-made career woman.  By this I mean I didn’t grow up, go to college, obtain my degree, and follow the process mapped out for a high-school graduate.  I landed my most important job ever at the age of 19; I was a mom.  A very. Young. Mom.  As you might guess, motherhood certainly wasn’t part of my original plan.  I was supposed to go to law school, become an attorney (something I still think I would be good at ;)), eventually marry and have 2.5 kids and midwestern home with a white picket fence.  Instead, I worked nights to pay bills so I could earn my degree during the day.  I put effort into learning a foreign language so I could be an active part of the hispanic community (thanks to Fermin, my now-husband who is from Mexico and had only been in the U.S. a short time when we met).  I leveraged my language skills and grit to land a job in a call center helping Spanish-speaking customers needing emergency assistance with access to funds and a safe place to stay.  That side job lead to a long and fruitful career in a completely different industry.  Hurdling many gaps and learning hard lessons along the way helped me to build the confidence (and competence) to take my career to higher levels. Now I want to help you do the same.

and then, there's golf

You might be wondering what’s with the connection to golf.  I have fallen in love with the game.  A game I once saw as an old man’s sport (sorry!), full of golf claps, whispers and judgement, is truly SO MUCH fun.  What’s more is that it has afforded me many opportunities in my career.

While I love the game, I do not love everything about it; 1) Most ladies are intimidated by the idea of being in a men’s environment pressured to play at a certain level (honestly, many men are intimidated, too!), and 2) The outfits can be downright ugly.  I’ve never seen a collared polo on a mannequin and thought “that’s so cute!”.  Due to these issues and others not mentioned, women are opting out of the opportunities the world of golf provides to business women around the world.  I don’t think it has to stay this way.

the bottom line

So, here we are.  I became a Professional Certified Career Coach to continue my passion of helping women in business grow their careers and navigate the obstacles along the way.  Additionally, I’m partnering with LPGA professionals across the country.  Through this partnership, attendees will hear inspiring stories of women in leadership and their experiences in a male-dominant career.  Guests will also have the opportunity to receive golf lessons (from very basic to advanced, if desired) as well as opportunities to play with other like-minded women at our career workshops.  For those who have little interest in golf, we’ll ensure a wonderful experience connecting with other women in a fun environment while gaining inspiration and tools for success.  Hopefully all will leave with more confidence in the golf environment as a result, whether that’s a the next luncheon or for opportunities to join corporate golf events.

The bottom line is, you belong.  My dream is to empower women to break through to that next chapter in their careers while growing their comfort level in the boardroom and the golf community, confident that SHE’S GOT GAME.  Please reach out and let me know how I can partner with you!
